OSTEOPOROSIS PREVENTION SEMINAR TO BE HELD MAY 10

Coastal Carolina University’s Department of Health Promotion
will
hold an osteoporosis prevention seminar for women of all ages on
Thursday, May 10 at 11 a.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. The event is
free and open to the public.
The program, conducted by Kathryn Hilgenkamp-Rodgers, assistant professor of health promotion at Coastal, will focus on the importance of calcium consumption and weight bearing exercise to help prevent this disease. Calcium sources for lactose intolerance will also be addressed. Free samples of non-dairy calcium-rich products will be available.
The program is funded by a grant from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
