Hoopla '09 to raise basketball awareness at CCU

Hoopla '09, an event to raise awareness about the Coastal Carolina University basketball program, will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 19 at Kimbel Arena. The event features an public introduction of Coastal basketball players and coaches and free giveaways for fans. Hoopla '09 is free and open to the public.

The men's and women's basketball teams will each have a 15-minute scrimmage. Coach Cliff Ellis, head men's basketball coach, and Alan Leforce, head coach of the women's basketball team, will speak briefly. Coastal Carolina University fraternities will compete in a step show contest. There will also be a Balloon Stomp for fans with cash prizes. Coastal T-shirts will be thrown out by cheerleaders, and fans can have their photo taken with members of the team for mascot Chauncey's Facebook page.

Interactive competition with the team will include a "hot shot" contest, a dunk contest and more. Food will be available, and a "Taste of Coastal" crown will be awarded in a food vendor competition.
