Coastal Carolina University presents percussion concert

Coastal Carolina University's Percussion Ensembles concert, titled "Rudimental," is set for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19 in Wheelwright Auditorium.

“Rudimental” will highlight rhythms from around the globe, featuring the sounds and instruments of the Americas, the Caribbean Islands and Africa, performed by the University's Percussion Ensemble, Taiko Ensembles, Steel Band and other student percussion ensembles. Several original student compositions will be featured.

The performance will be under the direction of Kurry Seymour, University assistant band director. Seymour instructs the percussion studio, percussion methods, the Spirit of the Chanticleer percussion section, and the Epiphany indoor percussion ensemble. He has a master's degree in percussion performance from West Virginia University.

General admission is $9; alumni and senior citizens (65+) and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) members $7; teens (11-17) are $3; and children (10 & under) are free. Coastal Carolina University and Horry Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) students are allowed one ticket per valid ID at $3; University and HGTC faculty and staff are allowed two tickets per valid ID at $3 each.

Tickets for the performance may be picked up from the Wheelwright Box Office Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or prior to the performance. For more information call 843-349-2502.
