Graduating seniors display work in University gallery

Two exhibitions of graduating seniors' art work open Thursday, April 15 in the Rebecca Randall Bryan Gallery at Coastal Carolina University and will remain on display through Saturday, May 8. The gallery is located in room 128 of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. Both exhibitions and the opening receptions are free and open to the public.

Works by 15 studio art graduating seniors are being featured in “Portfolios I,” which will be on display from Thursday, April 15 through Friday, April 23 with an opening reception Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The students’ works are in a variety of media including painting, photography, sculpture and collage. The artists deal with issues ranging from restoration, the female form, color theory, relationships, religion, a close examination of nature, process of sculpture, identity and social commentary. Selected works will be available for purchase.

Seniors in the first exhibition include: Amber Zeltner, Ashley Woodward, Carolyn Tanner, Ryan Samuels, Staci Rossi, Lindsey Mummaugh, Preston Moorehead, Maureen McGuire, Wayne Marcelli, Danielle King, Ashley Hughes, Angela Hudkins, Rachelle Hobus, Arielle Fatuova and Samantha Bailey.

Works by 13 graphic design graduating seniors are being featured in “Portfolios II,” which will be on display from Thursday, April 29 through Saturday, May 8 with the opening reception on Thursday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. These works are by the first class of students graduating with the new bachelor’s degree in graphic design.

Seniors displaying their work in the second exhibition are: Bryan Bondio, Sean Brownell, Tracey Daniska, Krista Gargano, Alissa Graef, Dora Levi, Alecia Lewis, Braden Pate, Jeremy Roberts, Dan Stefanski, Liz Tafaro, Tai Thompson and Josh Tyler.

Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturday, May 8 from noon until 4 p.m. Bryan Gallery programs are supported in part by the Office of Student Activities and Leadership, the Coastal Educational Foundation, the Friends of Bryan Gallery and the South Carolina Arts Commission.
