Garth Fagan Dance to perform at CCU

The internationally acclaimed Garth Fagan Dance is performing at Coastal Carolina University's Wheelwright Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5.

The company is led by artistic director Garth Fagan, the Tony & Olivier Award winning choreographer of Broadway’s "The Lion King. " The program will showcase new works and revivals in celebration of its 40th anniversary season. "Hylozoic" is the newest work being performed. Also being performed is "Mudan 175/39," which was selected one of the top six “favorite dance watching moments” of 2009 by The New York Times. The Times has described Fagan’s work as “unfailingly original."

The troupe has performed throughout the United States, Europe, Africa, Asia, the Near and Middle East, North and South America, New Zealand, Australia and the West Indies. Foreign tours have included a 13-city tour of The Netherlands; appearances at France's Maison de la Danse and Chateauvallon Festival and much more.

Domestically, the company has performed at such venues as Jacob's Pillow, Spoleto USA, Dance/Aspen and the first National Black Arts Festival.

Tickets are $15 and $20 depending on seat selection. Alumni, seniors (0ver 65) and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) members and teens (ages 11 to 17) get a $5 discount. CCU and HGTC students are $5, as are children. CCU and HGTC faculty and staff are $10 (two per valid ID).
