Summer youth camps offered to area children

The "Magical Wizard Camp," "Bugs, Bees 'n Dirty Knees" and "CSI Crime Scene Investigator" are a few of the creative camps designed for area children ages 6 through 12 this summer at Coastal Carolina University's Waccamaw Higher Education Center in Litchfield and the Myrtle Beach Education Center.

The camps run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. All camps are offered at both locations.

Here are some of the more popular sessions:

* "Yoga Movement and More" and "Abra Kadabra, Alla Kazam Magic Camp"

* "In the Lab with Dr. Science" and "Music Recycles"

* "Magical Wizard Camp" and "Come Clay with Me"

* "Bugs, Bees 'n Dirty Knees" and "Origami"

* "CSI Crime Scene Investigator"

* "Energizing Experiments" and "Drama Kaleidoscope"

* "Math Mania," "Picture Perfect" and "Camp Jam"

* "Street Hip-Hop and African Dance," "Credible Edible" and "Newspaper Publishing"

* "Sugary Chefs," "Magnificent Musical Theatre" and "Orange You Glad Artists Work with Colors?"

* "Fantastic Flower Child" and "Mardi Gras in July"

Each camp costs $75. The program operates in half-day and full-day weekly sessions in June and July, excluding the week that includes the Fourth of July.

The University's Waccamaw Higher Education Center is located at 160 Willbrook Blvd. off U.S. 17 in Litchfield. The Myrtle Beach Education Center in located 900 79th Ave. N. at the corner of U.S. 17 Bypass and 79th Avenue North.
