CCU offers bachelor's degree in health administration

July 15, 2011

Coastal Carolina University has established a new Bachelor of Science in Health Administration Completion Program (BSHA) that will begin this fall.

This 48-credit degree program builds on the knowledge accrued in entry-level health professional programs. Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Health Administration Completion Program acquire the proficiency and skills for leadership roles in the healthcare industry. The program will also prepare graduates for advanced degrees such as Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Health Administration (MHA).

The program, the first entirely online Bachelor of Science degree at CCU, is open to both full- or part-time students. All courses in the program will be delivered in a distance-learning format using the Blackboard Learning management system.

"We believe this new degree option will provide students with the preparation needed to advance into management positions in the health care industry," said John Yannessa, chair of the Department of Health Promotion.

Core curriculum requirements will be waived for students who have either an Associate of Science or Arts or a Bachelor of Science or Arts.
