CCU’s Commonthread 5 to perform Nov. 4

Commonthread 5, the newly named faculty brass quintet of Coastal Carolina University’s Department of Music will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, in the Recital Hall of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts.

The quintet will perform selections from baroque, romantic, classical, contemporary and new age music. The composers represented in the quintet include Bach, Scheidt, Mingus, Ewazen, Norman and Ellington.

Performing as Commonthread 5 are Mark Mendez (trumpet), Alan Oliphant (trumpet), Tonya Propst (horn), Matthew Shrewsbury (trombone) and Michael Collins (tuba).

General admission is $3; children 10 and under are admitted free. CCU and Horry Georgetown Technical College students receive one free ticket per valid ID. CCU and HGTC faculty and staff receive two free tickets per valid ID.
