CCU hosts Guest Artists Recital

Mary Jo White and Elizabeth Loparits, faculty members at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, will perform a flute and piano recital on Friday, Feb. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts at Coastal Carolina University.

White and Loparits will perform contemporary works by composers Sergei Prokofiev, Olivier Messiaen and Henri Dutilleux.

White is an assistant professor of music at UNCW. She has performed extensively in the Boston metropolitan area and was the 2006 winner of the National Flute Association Performers Competition.

Loparits, a native of Hungary, is a part-time faculty member at UNCW. She has won top prizes at the 1995 National Bartók Piano Competition and the 1996 Kodály-Bartók Chamber Music Competition. She has performed with the North Carolina Symphony.

General admission tickets are $3; CCU and HGTC students, faculty and staff are free with a ticket. Children (ages 10 and under) are also free (must be accompanied by an adult).
