Coastal Carolina University music professors Philip Powell and Gary Stegall will present “An Evening of Piano Chamber Music” on Tuesday, March 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall at the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts. Powell and Stegall will perform: Mozart’s “Sonata in D Major,” Franz Schubert’s “Fantasy in F Minor,” Gabriel Faure’s “Dolly” and Darius Milhaud’s “Scaramouche.”

Powell, a professor of music, has been a faculty member at CCU since 1988, teaching piano and piano pedagogy. He has performed with the South Carolina Symphony Orchestra, the Jupiter Symphony and is a frequent soloist with the Long Bay Symphony, playing concerto repertoire ranging from Mozart to Gershwin. Powell also served as president of the Coastal Concert Association, music director of the Festival of Music and Art at Pawleys Island, founding director of the Musicale de Genève series and a member of the board of directors of the Long Bay Symphony.

Stegall is also a professor of music at CCU. He is a soloist and chamber musician who has toured the globe, including a performance by special invitation at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. He has served as resident pianist for the Beau Geste Trio, the South Carolina Chamber Orchestra Soloist, and as guest artist with the dePasquale String Quartet of the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Tickets are: general admission, $3; CCU and Horry Georgetown Technical College students, free with ticket (one per valid ID); CCU and HGTC faculty/staff, free with ticket (two per valid ID); children ages 10 and under, free with adult supervision.
