'Education Under Fire' to be screened during COI
The documentary addresses the Iranian government's oppression of the Baha'i community pursuit of higher education. Because of their belief that the whole of humanity is one single family, members of the faith are deprived their right to be educated. The 30-minute long film is produced by Single Arrow Productions and co-sponsored by Amnesty International.
Following the screening, Edward Jadallah, dean of the Spadoni College of Education, will host a panel presentation including faculty, staff and students: Preston McKever-Floyd, assistant professor of philosophy and religion; Deborah Breede, associate professor of communication; Ginny Kintz, representative for the Baha'i faith; and Aliyyah Willis, history student. Ebony Cogdell, coordinator of diversity programs in the Office of Multicultural Student Services, will moderate the question and answer period which will be included.
