School of Continuing Studies to hold Open House

Coastal Carolina University's School of Continuing Studies will demonstrate new classroom technology at an Open House in the H. Dale Williams Center for Extended Learning on Wednesday, Oct. 10 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Located on the second floor of Coastal's University Hall, the 9,600-square-foot facility features a Smart Classroom, S.C. National Guard Distance Learning Classroom, computer lab, three classrooms, a conference room and the Senior Resource Center, which offers free computer access, Internet, e-mail, fax and copy machine services for senior adults.

Demonstrations of the Smart Classroom and Distance Learning Classroom are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., respectively. The Distance Learning Classroom includes state-of-the-art equipment for domestic and international real-time video and audio conferencing.

The School of Continuing Studies is a comprehensive continuing education operation, managing programs such as the award-winning Lifelong Learning Society, the Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (BAIS) degree, professional development workshops and seminars, specialized technologies certification, contract training, travel-study programs, Coastal Youth Academy, leisure learning, Command Spanish, credit and non-credit distance learning, high school dual credit, and the SuperSonic Summer Youth Program for children.
