CCU hosts mini summer youth camps

The annual Mini Summer Youth Camp is accepting registrations for children, ages 6-12, to attend the creative camp activities, held at Coastal Carolina University's Waccamaw Higher Education Center in Litchfield and the Myrtle Beach Education Center.

The camps run each week, beginning June 4 and ending July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. All camps are offered at both locations.

Some of the popular camp modules include:

o “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”

o “Abra Kadabra, Alla Kazam! Magic Camp “

o “Little Green Thumbs”

o “Young Authors Camp”

o “Street Hip-Hop”

o “Little Iron Chef Challenge”

o “Sugary Chef”

o “Brains, Blood and Bones” o “Calling All Superheroes! Pow! Zap! Bam!”

o “Mardi Gras in July: Fun Mask Making”

The program operates in half-day and full-day weekly sessions in June and July, excluding the week of Fourth of July. Half-day camps are $75, and full-day camps are $150 per week. Full-day camps include: “Glee Club,” “Drama Workshop” and “Art Studio and Magnificent Musical Theater.”

The University's Waccamaw Higher Education Center is located at 160 Willbrook Blvd. off U.S. 17 in Litchfield. The Myrtle Beach Education Center is located at 900 79th Ave. N. at the corner of U.S. 17 Bypass and 79th Avenue North.
