CCU announces promotion for student life role

Debbie Conner has been promoted to Vice President of Student Affairs at Coastal Carolina University. In her new role, Conner will be responsible for the administration of numerous areas of student life at CCU, including residence life, student recreation, counseling, student activities and leadership, student health services and minority student services. She will also supervise the dean of students and CCU's women's resource center.

Conner joined the CCU staff in 1994, when she accepted a position in the Division of Student Affairs. She is a founding member of CCU's Women in Philanthropy and Leadership and continues to serve as the organization's vice president. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member for CCU and Clemson University. Her most recent position was Associate Vice President of University Relations. Conner earned a bachelor's degree from Converse College, a master's degree in student personnel services from the University of South Carolina and a Ph.D. in educational leadership from Clemson University.

Active in community affairs, Conner is a member of the Rotary Club of Carolina Forest Sunrise, a board member of Street Reach Ministries and a co-chair of the Bi-Lo/American Red Cross Christmas Dinner in Myrtle Beach. She is the recipient of the 2012 Ann DeBock Leadership Award from the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and the Exceptional Woman of the Coastal Carolinas award from the Sun News.

Her change of position is effective July 1, 2012.
