Phillip Phillips live at first HTC Center concert

February 19, 2013

The winner of "American Idol" season 11, singer-songwriter Phillip Phillips, will perform the first concert in Coastal Carolina University's HTC Center on April 3. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets for the general public go on sale March 4 at 10 a.m. For CCU students, faculty and staff, tickets go on sale at noon Feb. 22.

Phillips is a 22-year-old from Leesburg, Ga., who underwent eight surgeries for kidney stones while filming "American Idol" and still managed to dominate every week. His first single, "Home," released after his 2012 win, sold more than any other American Idol coronation song. He released his debut album, "The World from the Side of the Moon," on Nov. 19, 2012, and it has since gone gold. He plays a soulful brand of acoustic rock that has been compared to Dave Matthews. He will be coming off a tour serving as the opening act for Matchbox Twenty and transitioning into a headliner for a string of college dates in the spring, with special guests Churchill.
