Newspaper columnist and parenting expert Jim Rogers will deliver a lecture titled "Home is Where the Start Is" on Thursday, April 18, at 4:30 p.m. in the James J. Johnson Auditorium in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration on the Coastal Carolina University campus. The public is invited to this free event.

Roger's lecture will touch on the importance of a quality home life as a vital component in successfully raising a child to adulthood. He will discuss the importance of values and ethical development for future citizens of our community, beginning with the arrival of an infant and the critical role of the child's environment.

For more than 15 years, Rogers wrote a newspaper column dispensing parenting advice. Some of those columns were collected in his 2012 book titled "The Incredible Importance of Effective Parenting: Plain Talk From a Concerned Field Worker."

As a nationally certified parenting and family life educator with a master's degree in early childhood education, Rogers makes a strong case for parenting education.
