CCU’s Percussion Ensemble’s got the beat in Wheelwright

The Coastal Carolina University Percussion Ensemble presents an exciting evening of music on Tuesday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. The public is invited to attend.

The concert will feature a marimba quintet arrangement of Debussy's classic" Claire de lune," a rendition of guitar virtuoso Pat Metheny's "Have You Heard," as well as original compositions by composers Andy Harnsberger and Jim Casella.

CCU's Percussion ensemble is made up CCU students Brandon Douglass, Nate Haun, Bill Flynn, Mark Kendree, Dea James, Wade McMillan, Nathan Culp, Johnny Richeson, DeAndrae Preston, Kyle Hutton, Kyle Brewster, Justin Brooks and Tim Forline. Jesse Willis, assistant professor of music and director of percussion studies at CCU, and Josh Frans, assistant percussion instructor, will direct.

General admission is $9; Osher Lifelong Learning Institute members, seniors and alumni, $7; teens, CCU and Horry Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) students and faculty, $3 (with valid ID); and children (10 and under) are free and must be accompanied by an adult.

The Wheelwright Auditorium is located in Spadoni Park, on 107 Founders Drive on the Coastal Carolina campus.

Tickets may be purchased from the Wheelwright Box Office at 843-349-2787, or prior to the performance. The box office hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
