CCU to host college fair

The Horry County Educational Opportunity College Fair will be held in the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center at Coastal Carolina University on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 4 and 5. This is the area's largest college fair and is sponsored by Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (CACRAO).

More than 70 collegiate representatives will be in attendance to provide information about their institutions to prospective students. The event will also give high school students and the public a chance to see the new facilities and university life at CCU.

Three free sessions are scheduled. For two of the sessions, area juniors and seniors will be bused from their high schools to attend the event. The other session is free and open to the public. The schedule is as follows:

- Sept. 4, from 9 a.m. to noon: Participating schools include the Academy for Arts, Science & Technology, the Academy for Technology and Academics, Aynor High School, Carolina Forest High School, Loris High School, Myrtle Beach High School and the Scholars Academy.

- Sept. 4, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.: The fair will be open to the public. High school students, families and transfer students are encouraged to attend.

- Sept. 5, from 9 a.m. to noon: Participating schools include Conway High School, Green Sea Floyds High School, Horry County Schools Early College High School, North Myrtle Beach High School, Saint James High School and Socastee High School.
