CCU to host 'Beneath the Waves Film Festival'

September 6, 2013

The Beneath the Waves Film Festival makes its Coastal Carolina University premiere at Edwards Recital Hall on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. The event will feature short films that deal with topics of marine science. Local marine science experts will be on hand to facilitate discussions during the festival, which is free and open to the public.

The film festival marks its fourth consecutive year in showcasing filmmakers from various backgrounds including professionals, students, scientists and conservationists. This mini-festival is held in conjunction with the flagship event on March 20-24 in Savannah. The aim of this festival is to inspire and educate students, scientists and the general public with engaging documentaries about marine-related issues.

Edwards Recital Hall is located in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts at 133 Chanticleer Drive W. in Conway. For more information, contact Erin Burge, associate professor of marine science, at 843-349-6491, or eburge@coastal.edu, or visit beneaththewavesfilmfest.org.
