Percussionist Andy Harnsberger set to perform at CCU

Virtuoso solo marimbist Andy Harnsberger will perform his original piece titled "Palmetto Moon" at a performance on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Coastal Carolina University's James J. Johnson Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Harnsberger has performed as percussionist with the Atlanta Symphony, the Hilton Head Symphony, Long Bay Symphony and other ensembles. He has also made several guest appearances on National Public Radio, both in interviews and live performances, bringing public awareness to the marimba as a solo instrument.

Harnsberger earned his DMA in performance and literature at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y., where he also received the prestigious Performer's Certificate. He is the director of percussion studies at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn., and is active as a freelance percussionist and recitalist. Harnberger also serves as a clinician, presenting at workshops and master classes at colleges and universities. Harnsberger is a performing artist and clinician for Pearl Drums, Adams Musical Instruments, Innovative Percussion Inc., Evans Drum Heads, Sabian Cymbals Ltd. and Grover Pro Percussion.

The Johnson Auditorium is located in the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration, room 116. The Wall College of Business is located at 119 Chanticleer Drive E. in Conway.
