CCU presents Fall Choral Concert

September 27, 2013

Coastal Carolina University's Fall Choral Concert, a joint performance by CCU and Loris High School, is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium.

CCU's Concert and Chamber Choirs, under the direction of Frances T. Sinclair, will perform with Loris High School's Loris Lion Singers and Blue Pride Voices, directed by Scarlet Whittington.

The program will feature two extended contemporary works, "Missa Kenya" and "Five Hebrew Love Songs." "Missa Kenya," by Paul Basler, is modeled after the Latin Mass with African influences with accompaniment on French horn by Tonya Propst, associate professor of music, and on percussion by CCU percussion majors. Also being performed is Eric Whitacre's "Five Hebrew Love Songs," which sets five poems to music with piano and violin accompaniment.

The Concert Choir, a large mixed choral ensemble, is CCU's oldest musical group and is open to any student without an audition. CCU's Chamber Choir is an advanced vocal ensemble with a repertoire encompassing all periods of Western music history.

General admission tickets are $15; CCU/HGTC students and children (10 and under) are $5; and CCU/HGTC faculty and staff, alumni, OLLI members, senior citizens and teens are $10.

Wheelwright Auditorium is located on 107 Founders Drive on the CCU campus. For tickets and additional information, contact the Wheelwright Box Office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 843-349-2787 (ARTS) or ticketreturn.com.
