CCU hosts fall educational forum

October 17, 2013

Coastal Carolina University hosts an educational forum titled "The Technology Revolution and the Purpose of Education" on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Presented by CCU's Spadoni College of Education Consortium for Educational Research and Evaluation, this forum will examine the relationship between technology and education and how technology is transforming teaching and learning. The forum will also concentrate on the pedagogical relevance of technology in the classroom.

The keynote address will be given by Kristen DeBruler, a researcher at the Center for Online Learning Research and Innovation at Michigan Virtual University. She is currently pursuing a doctorate at Michigan State University. Her work focuses on the types of knowledge teachers and students need to be successful in online courses.

Following the keynote address, a panel discussion involving local educators, college faculty and a State Department of Education representative will be held with audience questions.

Wheelwright Auditorium is located on 107 Founders Drive on the CCU campus. To register online, visit tinyurl.com/qx3vbls or contact Lynne Brock at 843-349-2629 or lynne@coastal.edu.
