World Music Ensemble brings the Caribbean to CCU

The Coastal Carolina University World Music Ensemble will perform an evening of music from the Caribbean on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Wheelwright Auditorium. General admission tickets are $5; CCU and HGTC students, faculty and staff are $3; and children (ages 10 and under) are free and must be accompanied by an adult.

The concert features the CCU Afro-Cuban Folkloric Music Ensemble and the CCU Steel Pan Ensemble. Under the direction of Jesse Willis and assistant director Josh Frans, the Afro-Cuban Folkloric Music Ensemble will perform music in the styles of Bembe, Iyesa and Rumba Guaguanco. The Steel Pan Ensemble will play a variety of music in the Calypso tradition.

Ensemble members include CCU students Ally Abbs, Cailin Aucoin, Billy Ball, Moses Ballard, Kyle Brewster, Justin Brooks, Michael Clifton, Nathan Culp, Bill Flynn, Tim Forline, Alyssa Frison, Nate Haun, Kyle Hutton, Mark Kendree, Joe Kleman, Jamie Lindblade, Jasmine McCray, Wade McMillan, DeAndrae Preston, Emily Rebiechi and Johnny Richeson.
