Tony Award-winning writers Greg Kotis and Mark Hollmann bring their latest work "ZM" to Coastal Carolina University. CCU faculty member John Woodson, music director Steven Gross and students from the CCU professional training program present a workshop reading of the musical comedy "ZM" in the Edwards Theatre on Saturday, May 17, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 18, at 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Following the successful odd premise of their hit show "Urinetown," Kotis and Hollman have penned a story of a corporate greed, fast food and the zombie apocalypse.

The following CCU Theater students will participate in the reading: Michael Lawrence, Kelly Kapur, Alexa Doggett, Eric Waters, Cameron Taylor, Juli Clark, Meg Groves, Daniel Pippet, Cody Taylor, Krista Gierlach, Daniel Pippert, Christina Daves, Garrett McCann and Sara Plensdorf. Kotis and Hollmann won a Tony award in 2002 for Best Original Score and Best Book for a Musical for their play "Urinetown."

Kotis's work has been produced across the country and around the world including the Actors Theatre of Louisville, American Conservatory Theater, American Theater Company, New York Stage and Film, The Old Globe and other venues. His plays and musicals include "The Unhappiness Plays," "Pig Farm," "East the Taste," "The Boring-est Poem in the World," "The Truth About Santa" and others. Kotis is a member of the Neo-Futurists, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, and more.

Hollmann is currently writing music for the Broadway musical "Soapdish" and "My Man of Godfrey." He helped develop "Yeast in the Nation" and "The Man in the White Suit" with Kotis. He wrote the music and lyrics and starred with Kotis in "Eat the Taste." He is a member of the Cardiff-Giant Theatre Company in Chicago, and he played trombone for the Chicago art-rock band Maestro Subgum and the Whole.

The Edwards Theatre is located in the Thomas W. and Robert W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts at 133 Chanticleer Drive E. on CCU's campus.
