Philip Powell, pianist and chair of Coastal Carolina University's Department of Performing Arts, will perform a solo piano recital on Sunday, Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. in the Edwards Building Recital Hall. The concert, which will include works by Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin and Schubert, is free and open to the public.

Powell has performed throughout the United States as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed with the University of South Carolina Orchestra, the Long Bay Symphony and the Jupiter Symphony of New York City.

A member of the Coastal faculty since 1988, Powell earned a master's degree and a doctorate degree from Indiana University.
