CCU presents jazz performance of Miles & Coltrane: Blue (.)

"Miles & Coltrane: Blue (.)," a dramatized musical play about two iconic American jazz musicians, is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m. at Wheelwright Auditorium at Coastal Carolina University.

The show depicts the personal and professional relationship between trumpeter Miles Davis and saxophonist John Coltrane, whose brilliant collaboration in the 1950s reshaped the boundaries of jazz and popular culture. This musical biography, blending spoken dialogue with music by the Stephen Gordon quintet, captures the complex struggles of these titans of the jazz world and the cool but edgy creative spirit of the era.

"Miles & Coltrane: Blue (.)" is presented by OnQ Performing Arts, the first African-American company in residence at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte, N.C. Quentin Talley, a founder of OnQ, plays Coltrane, and Davis is played by Sultan Omar El-Amin. The play, written by Charlotte-based performance group Concrete Generation, contains adult language and content.
