Guitar Studio Concert to be held at CCU

November 18, 2014

Coastal Carolina University will host a Guitar Studio Recital on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the Edwards Recital Hall. The event is open to the public but ticketed. The CCU Guitar Ensemble will also perform.

The Guitar Studio, one of the largest groups in CCU's Department of Music, will perform solo and ensemble selections from the Renaissance period through the 21st century.

The nine-member Guitar Ensemble includes students Liz Kelley, Timothy Hardwick, Taylor McGuire, Rob Whiteside, Jeremy McArthur, Christopher Scheu, Austin Terry, Hannah Tierney and Cynthea Kelley. The program will range from Johann Sebastian Bach's "Musette" to the traditional Spanish song "Malaguena," performed by Jeremy McArthur, and to Scott Joplin's "Elite Syncopations," performed by the Guitar Quartet (Kelley, Hardwick, McGuire and Whiteside).

The performance showcases the abilities of the students of CCU professor Daniel Hull. Director of both groups, Hull is an active soloist, ensemble musician and teacher.

General admission is $5, $4 for CCU faculty and staff and $3 for CCU students. The Edwards Recital Hall is located in Room 152 in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts building at 133 Chanticleer Drive W. in Conway.

For ticket information call the Wheelwright Box Office Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at 843-349-2787. Tickets can also be purchased online at ticketreturn.com.
