Children invited to CCU to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday

February 24, 2015

Elementary school students are invited to Coastal Carolina University's annual Read Across America celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday on Friday, Feb. 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the first floor classrooms at Brittain Hall. Families with school-age children are welcome to attend the free event.

CCU's student branch of the S.C. Education Association, Kappa Delta Pi and Team First Book-Horry County are co-sponsoring the event, a celebration of reading. Activities such as face painting, arts and crafts, story reading and a family viewing of a Dr. Seuss movie are planned. Pizza, drinks, popcorn and birthday cake will be served, and First Book volunteers will give each child a free book.

CCU education students and First Book volunteers will be reading their favorite Dr. Seuss books to children.

Brittain Hall is located at 125 Chanticleer Drive W. on the Conway campus. For more information, call Marcie Knox Ellerbe, assistant professor in the Department of Foundations, Literacy and Technology in the Spadoni College of Education, at 843-349-6441 or email at mlknox@coastal.edu.
