CCU’s Chapter of BGS receives Bronze Chapter Award
This is the first time CCU's chapter has received this particular honor. In the past, CCU has received Gold and Silver Chapter awards as well as several honorable mentions. The Bronze Chapter recipient receives $1,000 in scholarships for BGS members.
"Earning this award validates the work ethic, dedication and commitment of our business students that they exhibit not only in the classroom, but also in their personal lives and as leaders in their communities" said chapter adviser Cara Scheuer of CCU's E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration. "BGS signifies the best in business, so an achievement like this shows the Wall College of Business is doing an excellent job preparing our students for careers in business," said faculty adviser Melissa Clark, associate professor of marketing in the Wall College of Business. "I am proud to be a faculty adviser for this great honor society."
The annual competition provides an opportunity for BGS chapters from campuses across the world to compete for student scholarship money and to be recognized for outstanding chapter performance. CCU competed against 546 eligible BGS chapters worldwide.
"The Bronze Chapter award speaks to the incredible commitment of our BGS students, and our BGS advisers, Cara Scheuer and Melissa Clark," says Barbara Ritter, dean of the Wall College. "The hard work they put into making this program a success enhances the reputation of our college overall."
Coastal Carolina University's BGS chapter was established in 1999. The chapter sponsors many programs and events every year, including academic and career development programs for students as well as community public service and philanthropic activities. The mission of the society is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business and to recognize personal and professional excellence in the practice of business.
