Kimbel Library celebrates National Library Week

Coastal Carolina University celebrates National Library week from April 12 to18, with several book-related events to mark this nationwide event. All events are free and open to the public.

Sally Z. Hare, professor emerita, will lead a book discussion on "The Resilience of the Human Spirit" on Tuesday, April 14, at 4 p.m. She has served CCU in a variety of ways in the College of Education from 1974 until 2005. During her career, she was a Kellogg National Leadership Fellow and a Fetzer National Teaching Fellow. Hare earned a bachelor's degree, master's degree and Ph.D. all from the University of South Carolina. She and her husband, educator/author Jim Rogers, continue to serve the community with their business, still learning Inc.

On Wednesday, April 15, from noon to 2 p.m., the annual Edible Book Fair will take place in the foyer beween Kimbel Library and Bryan Information Commons.

Entries should be dropped of at the circulation desk between 9 and 11 a.m., voting takes place at noon, and prizes will be awarded at 2 p.m.

On Friday, April 17, at 3 p.m. on Bryan Information Commons Lawn, a poetry-reading event will be held, celebrating both National Library Week and National Poetry Month. Limited sign-ups will be available the day of the event. To sign up to read, contact Hastings Hensel at whensel@coastal.edu.
