POP 101 to perform spring concert

POP 101, Coastal Carolina University's acclaimed pop and rock music performing group, will stage its spring concert on Thursday, April 23, at 7:30 p.m., in Wheelwright Auditorium. General admission is $5.

"The Southern Soul of Muscle Shoals" will feature the music of Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, Etta James, Paul Simon, Bob Seger, Clarence Carter, Bob Dylan, Rod Stewart, the Rolling Stones and more.

The contemporary performing group features many of the finest singers and instrumentalists in the music department at CCU.

The concert is directed by Daniel O'Reilly, an instructor of music at CCU and earned a bachelor's and a master's degree from Long Island University. He has performance experience in New York City and the Grand Strand. He has appeared with Four Tops, The Temptations and Lou Rawls and has opened for B.B. King and The Doobie Brothers.

Tickets are $5 general admission; $4 CCU/HGTC faculty and staff, OLLI members, seniors and alumni; and $3 CCU/HGTC students and children under the age of 10.
