Cultural Celebration to take place at CCU

Coastal Carolina University will host its annual Cultural Celebration Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Prince Lawn. The free event is designed to involve all areas of campus in celebrating cultural diversity. The rain date is Wednesday, Sept. 23, same time and location.

The festival will highlight the history, music, dance, art and food from many countries and cultures. There will also be tables of arts, crafts and jewelry on display. Tables will be set up for CCU student organizations and clubs to showcase the variety and diversity of cultural heritage.

Entertainment will include (times are tentative and subject to change):

* Level 33, Pop-rhythm/blues, 11 a.m.

* Taikazo, Japanese drumming, 11:45 a.m.

* Mystic Vibrations, reggae, 12:15 p.m.

* Raqs Sharqi, Middle Eastern dancing, 12:45 p.m.

* Taikazo, Japanese drumming, 12:50 p.m.

* "CalypSamba," CCU's World Percussion Ensemble, 1:10 p.m.

* Mystic Vibrations, reggae, 1:40 p.m.

Prince Lawn is located in the center of campus in front of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts and the Eldred E. Prince building. For more information, contact the Office of Multicultural Student Services at 843-349-2863.
