CCU observes Banned Books Week

September 17, 2015

Coastal Carolina University will observe Banned Books Week from Monday, Sept. 28, to Friday, Oct. 2, in Kimbel Library. Events during this week are free and open to the public.

Banned Book Week is a national observance that celebrates the freedom to read. On Monday, Sept. 28, Kimbel Library will present a virtual read-out of famous banned books that will be read by CCU faculty, staff and students. On Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m., room 121 of the Kimbel Library will be set up to record for next year's Read Out video. Volunteers are welcomed to read from their favorite banned book. On Wednesday, Sept. 30, participants are invited to take a mug shot photo with their favorite banned book in the library and tweet it out to support the freedom to read.

Kimbel Library and Bryan Information Commons is located at 376 University Blvd, Conway. For more information, visit the library's website at coastal.edu/library or call 843-349-2400.
