Reggie Shaw of 2015’s Big Read to give talk at CCU

October 7, 2015

Reggie Shaw, whose involvement in a texting-while-driving accident was the subject of Coastal Carolina University's Big Read assignment for 2015, will give a talk on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 6:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

The book, "A Deadly Wandering: A Tale of Tragedy and Redemption in the Age of Attention" by Matt Richtel tells the story of the accident, which took the lives of two men. Shaw speaks passionately around the country to groups about the dangers of texting while driving. He shares his story and experience in the hopes that others will learn from his past choices.

The Big Read program is designed to encourage cross-disciplinary dialogue between students, professors and the entire CCU community. Its purpose is to create an introductory learning forum across various disciplines and to facilitate creative and critical thinking on a common theme.

Wheelwright Auditorium is located at 108 Spadoni Park Circle on CCU's Conway campus. For more information, contact Brianne Parker, chair of CCU's Big Read Committee at 843-349-6536.
