‘Legend of Sleepy Hollow’ to be performed at CCU

Coastal Carolina University theatre students will perform "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" from Thursday, Oct. 22, to Saturday, Oct. 31, in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards Theatre. This is a family-friendly show and appropriate for ages 7 and up. General admission is $17, with discounts available.

The beloved story of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving takes place in an 18th-century American village and focuses on the folk tale of the headless horseman. A humble schoolteacher, Ichabod Crane, vies for the hand of the beautiful Katrina Van Tassel, which causes the townsfolk to protest. Ultimately, the Headless Horseman will decide his fate.

The performance is as follows:

* Thursday, Oct. 22 through Saturday, Oct. 24, 7:30 p.m.

* Thursday, Oct. 29, 7:30 p.m.

* Friday, Oct. 30, 7 p.m.

* Saturday, Oct. 31, 3 and 7:30 p.m.

Directed by Gwendolyn Schwinke, assistant professor of acting at CCU, the production features Michael Onofaro as Ichabod Crane and Karli Cole as Katrina. Other student cast members are Keondra Walker, Jordan Sharp, Korilyn Hendricks, Terrell Jones, Wes Williams, Briar White, Meg Groves, Katie Hudson, Kathryn Albers, April Pollock, Hannah Lewis, Emily Peiffer, Sydney Copeland-Goodman, Nikko Smith, Izabel Dorst, Devante Owens and David McInnis.

Stage manager and designers are Sarah Davidson, Sammy Papp, Preston Krenicki, Brian Marshall and faculty members Todd Wren and Ben Sota.

Tickets can by purchased by calling 843-349-ARTS (2787) or visiting the Wheelwright Auditorium Box Office between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Senior citizens, OLLI members, alumni, teens, and CCU/HGTC faculty and staff may purchase tickets for $12 and CCU/HGTC students and children can get them for $5. Wheelwright Auditorium is located at 108 Spadoni Park Circle on the Conway campus.

The Edwards Theatre is in Room 117 of the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, located at 133 Chanticleer Drive, Conway.
