CCU to host 'An Evening with Cole Porter'

Voice students at Coastal Carolina University will perform "An Evening with Cole Porter" on Monday, Feb. 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts Recital Hall. General admission tickets are $7, and discounts are available.

Jeffrey Jones, associate professor of music, and his voice students will perform "Night and Day," "Begin the Beguine," "I Get a Kick Out of You," and other songs by Porter, one of the great musical theatre composers of the 20th century. "His songs have continued to be performed by a variety of artists since his death," says Jones, "and are considered to be some of the greatest songs in the Great American Songbook.

The voice students include Kathryn Albers, Brooke Bloomquist, Brianne Campbell, Emilee Hassanzadeh, TJ Little, Valerie McDougal, Riley Phoenix, Maggie Renfroe, Naomi Schulman, Jason Sherman, Carmen Williams, Wes Williams, James Wilson and Caitlin Yarosz.

Senior citizens, OLLI members, alumni, teens, and CCU/HGTC faculty and staff may purchase tickets for $5, and children and CCU/HGTC students are $3. To purchase tickets, contact the Wheelwright Auditorium at 843-349-ARTS (2787) or visit between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The auditorium is located at 108 Spadoni Park Circle on the Conway campus.
