Theatre class 2016

Students from the Department of Theatre at Coastal Carolina University will present "Celebrations," a showcase of their class projects, from April 14 to 16 and April 21 to 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts Theatre. General admission tickets are $7, and discounts are available.

"Celebrations" is a two-weekend event that features final projects that were developed by CCU students during acting, musical theatre, physical theatre and dance classes. The work of almost 50 students will be shown each night.

On Thursday of each week, the show will feature freshmen in the Acting I Studio class, juniors in Acting III Studio and the work of the physical theatre program. Friday evenings will feature sophomores in the Musical Theatre Scene Study class, as well as Acting II Studio. Saturday evenings will feature seniors presenting classical material, such as Shakespeare, in addition to advanced dancers from the CCU Theatre Department Dance Company. Technical and design theatre students' lighting, sound and production skills will also be featured during the performances.

"The goal of 'Celebrations' is to feature the work of our fine arts degree programs in acting, musical theatre, physical theatre, design and technology," said Steve Earnest, professor of theatre at CCU. "These performances are aimed at showcasing the many hours of work and rehearsal that are undertaken in these advanced studio performance classes."

Senior citizens, OLLI members, alumni, teens, and CCU/HGTC faculty and staff may purchase tickets for $5. Tickets for children and CCU/HGTC students are $3. To purchase tickets, contact the Wheelwright Auditorium at 843-349-ARTS (2787) or visit between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets may also be purchased at ticketreturn.com. The box office is located at 108 Spadoni Park on the Conway campus.
