CCU musical ensembles will come together for their annual showcase performance at the Spectrum II concert, Thursday, Jan. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. Tickets are $7, with CCU discounts available.

Performing groups include the CCU Jazz Ensemble, directed by Matthew White, assistant professor of music; the World Percussion Ensemble, under the direction by Jesse Willis, assistant professor of music and director of percussion studies; the CCU Symphonic Band, directed by Richard Johnson, professor of music; and the Chanticleer Basketball Pep Band, under the direction of T. Andre Feagin, assistant professor of music.

Chamber and ensembles include the CCU Saxophone Ensemble, the Low Brass Ensemble and the CCU Jazz Combo.

The event is a component of the three-day CCU Honor Band and Scholarship Festival that brings high school student musicians from around the Southeast to the CCU campus for clinics, rehearsals and an insider's view of the CCU music program.

"For CCU student musicians, this is an exciting start to our academic semester," said Feagin. "For the audience of high school musicians, it's a showcase of what it's like being a student in the ensembles at CCU; it offers a snapshot of the program."

The program's selections include a wide range of repertoire.

General admission is $7. Senior citizens, OLLI members, alumni, teens, and CCU/HGTC faculty and staff may purchase tickets for $5, and CCU/HGTC students and children's tickets are $3. To reserve a ticket, call the Box Office at 843-349-ARTS (2787) or visit during open hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Monday through Friday.

Wheelwright Auditorium is located at 108 Spadoni Park Circle, Conway. For more information, contact Richard Johnson at 843-349-6449 or rjohnson@coastal.edu.
