CCU forum to discuss Middle East issues

February 2, 2017

Samih Baalbaki will lead a discussion on ethical issues in the Middle East on Thursday, Feb. 9, at 4:30 p.m. in the James J. Johnson Auditorium at Coastal Carolina University. The event, sponsored by the Jackson Family Center for Ethics and Values, is free and open to the public.

Baalbaki, instructor for the CCU Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), will offer his personal insights on the Middle East. He was born in Lebanon and moved to the U.S. in 2012. Throughout his career as a legal consultant, he traveled to more than 20 Middle Eastern countries. Baalbaki's long observation of religious customs has given him a unique insight into the region.

Discussion topics include: Has ISIS been defeated? Is it realistic to expect a military victory over ISIS? What role will ISIS play in the Middle East if it no longer controls territory?

The discussion is a part of the Jackson Family Center for Ethics and Values Java Jabber series. The Johnson Auditorium is located in Room 116 of the E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business Administration at 119 Chanticleer Drive E. on the main Conway campus.
