The Coastal Carolina University Orchestra and the Long Bay Youth Symphony (LBYS) will perform "More Inspirations from the Dance" on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Myrtle Beach High School Music and Arts Center. Tickets are $10, and discounts are available.

Long Bay Symphony conductor Charles Jones Evans, a teaching associate in CCU's Department of Music, will direct the combined orchestras.

Continuing last season's program theme, this concert includes dance-based classics such as Johann Strauss' "Voices of Spring Waltzes," Antonin Dvorak's "Slavonic Dances," excerpts from Georges Bizet's "Carmen," J.S. Bach's "Orchestral Suite No. 1" and selections of Duke Ellington's work.

Special guest soloist will be Steven Martinez, a teaching associate in the Department of Music. A CCU alumnus, Martinez is a member of the Long Bay Symphony and former student concerto competition winner with the LBYS. Martinez will perform the "Concerto in F for Double Bass" by Antonio Capuzzi. CCU and the Long Bay Symphony have been performing collaboratively for more than two decades.

Evans is in his 21st season as music director and conductor of the Long Bay Symphony/LBYS and has held conducting positions with numerous professional orchestras and music festivals across the country. Evans' orchestral performances have been broadcast frequently on National Public Radio.
