Lifelong Learning Society advisory board adds new members; elects new officers

Coastal Carolina University's Lifelong Learning Society (LLS) has elected six new members to its advisory board. The new members are Thomas Dovey of Conway, Caroline Ewing of Loris, Julie Miller of Conway, Carol Rose of Murrells Inlet, Steve Talton of Myrtle Beach, and Norm Whiteley of Surfside Beach.

John Navin, assistant professor of history and associate dean of Coastal's Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts, and Rocky Cartisano of Conway, past president of the LLS advisory board, have been named honorary board members.

Advisory board officers elected for the 2002-2003 academic year are Rose, president; Whiteley, vice president; and Connie Hunt of Murrells Inlet, secretary.

The advisory board was established in 1998 to help develop curricula for the Lifelong Learning Society, an adult learning program administered by Coastal's School of Continuing Studies.

Coastal's Lifelong Learning Society has more than 600 members and offers more than 130 courses and workshops each semester on subjects ranging from computers and new technology to art, literature, local history, finance and creative writing.
