Hypnotist to perform at Coastal Carolina University

October 2, 2002

Hypnotist Frederick Winters will perform on Friday, Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium on the Coastal Carolina University campus. The event is free and open to the public.

Winters sends audience volunteers on incredible journeys into the imagination, commanding them to do seemingly impossible things. During his 10-year career as a stage hypnotist, Winters has performed more than 2,000 shows and entertained some 500,000 people. He has been nominated numerous times by college associations as one of the best campus acts in the United States.

Winters began learning hypnosis at Northwestern University in Chicago working under his mentor, hypnotist George Vaughn Lowther. He also runs a private hypnotherapy practice in Florida, where he is a certified clinical hypnotherapist and a member of the International Association of Counselors and Therapists. Besides entertaining the audience, he also educates the crowd on hypnosis and its misconceptions.

Winters' appearance is sponsored by Coastal's Office of Student Activities and Coastal Productions Board as part of the university's Family Weekend. For more information, call 349-2502.
