Information sessions scheduled on master's degree in teaching at Coastal Carolina University

October 18, 2002

Coastal Carolina University's College of Education will hold two information sessions in November for people interested in earning a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree. Sessions are scheduled for Monday, Nov. 4 in Kearns Hall 109 and on Thursday, Nov. 7 in Kearns Hall 110. Both sessions will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. and will provide information on admission to the program, curriculum requirements and teacher certification.

- The MAT program offers graduate-level programs of study that lead to teacher certification in selected areas. The MAT is typically begun after the completion of the bachelor's degree and usually takes one academic year and two summer sessions to complete.

Programs leading to teacher certification in South Carolina are available for grades 7 to 12 in English, mathematics, science and social studies. Programs in art, foreign languages (French and Spanish) and music for grades PreK to 12 are available.
