CCU to host 28th annual Coastal Triathlon on April 14
The Coastal Triathlon will challenge its participants on a fast-paced course including a 300-yard swim, 9-mile bike ride, and 3.1-mile run through the CCU campus. A celebration and awards ceremony for top finishers will directly follow the race. More than 80 athletes are expected to participate, including students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Participants can register on active.com. Fees are $30 for students, $45 for faculty and staff, and $60 for non-CCU participants. Registration will increase on March 28 and close online on April 11. Registration includes a free event T-shirt.
The Coastal Triathlon not only provides an active opportunity for the community, but also serves as an experiential learning opportunity for students enrolled in the RSM490: Program and Event Planning course at CCU. The future generation of recreation and sport professionals will learn the process of creating and executing a recreation event. The Department of Recreation and Sport Management hosts events that help support the Grand Strand’s multimillion-dollar sports tourism industry by drawing students, community members, and visitors to the area.
