Coastal to host Renaissance Fair Day March 8

More than 25 workshops and seminars on a wide variety of topics will be offered at Coastal Carolina University's annual Renaissance Fair Day, scheduled for Saturday, March 8 on the Coastal campus. Topics include investing, health issues, history, horticulture, ecology, music, religion and more. Fee for participation is $20 per person. Registration deadline is Wednesday, March 5.

Following a Continental breakfast and registration from 8:30 to 9 a.m., participants attend one seminar in each of the three separate sessions - two morning sessions and an afternoon session concluding at 3 p.m. Lunch is included. All seminars and workshops will be held in the new Edwards Humanities and Fine Arts Building.

Scheduled seminars, led by Coastal faculty and staff and area experts, include:

- Session A - History of Rock and Roll, Beach Music and Rhythm and Blues; Massage Therapy; The Mind-Body Connection: Miraculous or Devastating?; Creative Writing; Calligraphy; Yoga: Stretching and Flexibility; Volatility of Today's Market; and Memories of Horry County: Swamp, Strand and Steamboat.

- Session B - Interact with the Internet; Take Me Out to the Ballgame; The Unique Waccamaw River and its Keeper; Plant Propagation for Pleasure and Profit; The Loss of Our Coastline; Integrative Medicine; A Taste of Spanish; Medicare and Long Term Care; and Care About Your Skin.

- Session C - The Bizarre Biology of Bats; Discover Your Love Language; Pilates; Retirement Asset Management; Dreams for Discovery; Read a Little Faster, Remember a Lot More; Experience Hands-on-Healing; Feng Shui; and Quilting.

The event is sponsored by Coastal-s Lifelong Learning Society, a learning-in-retirement program that offers more than 60 courses each semester.
