CCU choral concert presents songs from around the world

April 15, 2003

Coastal Carolina University’s Concert Choir will circumnavigate the musical globe for its spring concert, set for Tuesday, April 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

The concert will offer “an international potpourri of choral delights,” according to director Anne Denbow-Gilbert, including music from South America, New Zealand, Spain, Jamaica, Malaysia, Africa and Scotland, as well the United States. A number of songs will be presented in the original  language, with others in English translations.

The program also includes a piece from an Offenbach opera, a Hebrew folk song, a Southern Gospel number from the film “O Brother, Where Art Thou?,” a jazz medley by Gershwin and a song from the Broadway musical “Guys and Dolls.”
