New officers elected for Coastal's Board of Trustees

Coastal Carolina University's Board of Trustees has elected new officers for 2003-2004. The officers, who serve one-year terms, are: Fred F. DuBard Jr., chairman; William L. Lyles Jr., vice chairman; and Daniel W.R. Moore Sr., secretary.

DuBard lives in Florence where he is president and CEO of DuBard, Inc. and an owner of the Pee Dee Pride hockey team. He earned a bachelor's degree from Wofford College and graduate degree from University of Tennessee. He has served as a member of the Coastal Board of Trustees since 1993 including two terms as chairman. He was named the1997 Florence Business Person of the Year and the 1998 S.C. Beer Wholesaler of the Year. He is involved in a number of civic organizations in Florence and in the state.

Lyles is president of Carolina Beer Company in Anderson. He earned a bachelor's degree from Erskine College in 1967. He is a member of the Anderson area Bank of America advisory board and is a past chair of the South Carolina Beer Association. Lyles has served on Coastal's Board of Trustees since 1993.

Moore, of North Myrtle Beach, has undergraduate and graduate degrees from Clemson University. He is president of DM Development Co., Inc. and a member of the North Myrtle Beach Zoning Board of Appeals. He is a former member of the Horry County Higher Education Commission.

Coastal's Board of Trustees has 17 members. Fifteen are elected by the General Assembly (two from each Congressional District and three from the state at large), one is appointed by the Governor, and one member is the Governor's designee.
