Coastal's student rock ensemble gives concert this week

Pop 101, Coastal Carolina University's student rock ensemble, is presenting an evening of classic rock and contemporary hits in concert Wednesday, April 28 a at 7:30 p.m. in Wheelwright Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.

Included in the program will be the classic rock standards of Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and the Beatles as well as the contemporary sounds of such as Maroon 5, the Ramones and Blind Melon. Instruments include guitars, bass guitars, drums, saxophones, trumpets and keyboard.

Musicians include Coastal students Danielle Adams, Shannon Cook, Justin Cox, Jon Evans, Diane Fabiano, Steven Memoli, Mark Montanaro, Curtis Muldrow, Julio Navarro, Mike Schmitt Elise Testone and Chris Willhite. Drew Jacobs of Horry Georgetown Technical College is also in the band. All the student musicians were required to audition for the ensemble. Dan O'Reilly, teaching associate in performing arts, directs Pop 101.

The concert will run approximately an hour and a half with an intermission.
