Weldon named associate VP for administration at CCU

Richard N. Weldon has been named associate vice president for administration at Coastal Carolina University.

Weldon will be responsible for the Office of Administrative Services, which includes: Business and Auxiliary Services; Facilities Planning and Management; Capital Improvements; Leases and Contracts; Risk Management; and Public Safety. He will continue to serve as associate university legal counsel, and director of Emergency Management. He was previously division director of the Division of Academic Outreach, which involved management of the three higher education centers (Myrtle Beach, Georgetown, Waccamaw), the Testing Center, Small Business Development Center and other contract-related services.

A member of the Coastal faculty and staff since 1993, Weldon has also served as assistant dean of the School of Continuing Studies, director of Tourism Research, and director of External Services and coordinator of distance education for the Wall College of Business. He taught courses in business law and political science and was recipient of Coastal’s Distinguished Professor of the Year award for 1996-1997.

Weldon earned a bachelor’s degree from Coastal Carolina College and a juris doctor degree from the USC Law School.
