Tennessee Williams classic play, A Streetcar Named Desire, is being presented by Coastal Carolina Universitys Department of Performing Arts from Wednesday, Nov. 10 through Sunday, Nov. 14 at the Black Box Theater in the Thomas W. and Robin W. Edwards College of Humanities and Fine Arts.

Performances are at 7:30 nightly Wednesday through Saturday, with matinees at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 14. General admission is $10, students 18 and under $5. Seating is limited.

Streetcar is the story of Blanche DuBois, a fragile and neurotic woman on a desperate prowl for a place in the world to call her own. She takes refuge in New Orleans French Quarter with her sister Stella and brother-in-law, the violent Stanley Kowalski, as rumors of her scandalous past begin to catch up with her.

Directed by Tom Jones, the 17-member cast is comprised of Coastal theater students. The play lasts approximately two hours with an intermission. Due to subject matter, it may not be suitable for children. This play is put together from four different revisions of scripts by Williams, so it will be more fleshed out than many versions, said Jones, adding that the production will be very environmental with the sounds of street cars and jazz and blues music in an attempt to reproduce the feeling of the French Quarter in New Orleans.

Portraying the main roles are Margaret Graham as Blanche DuBois, Michael Bratsafolis as Stanley, Daniel Morgan as Mitch and Kristine Schuck as Stella. Other cast members are Jeanell Jones as Eunice, Matt Hayward as Steve and Julian Colletta as Pablo.

Also in the cast are Jeravon Hatchett, Ann Winnard, Steven Memoli, Jessica Leach, Robbie Hambright and Kristen Skarzynski.

Scenic and lighting design is by David Dawson, and Melanie Schuessler is in charge of costuming. Jennifer Menzer is assistant director, Vickie Carter is stage manager, and Victoria Keller-Setin is stage assistant.
